Bridget Brophy was convicted at Carlow on 20/03/1844 for stealing wearing apparel. 7yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Phoebe', arriving 02/01/1845. Housemaid; aged 18yrs;fresh complexion; grey eyes; light hair;5'5"; single; Roman Catholic. Native Place - Carlow Assignment in the Colony. 1846: Absent without leave - 2mths hard labour at Female Factory, Hobart. 1850: False accusation - 6mths hard labour at Female Factory, Hobart. Married William Bromidge (per 'Isabella') 1847 (ref. 971/1847-37) Free Certificate 21/03/1851.
