Twice before, Desertion, once discharged, twice, 6 weeks. Single. Catholic, can read. Age 24, Trade, Groom. Native place, Cavan. Surgeons Report: How employed? - Doing duty in Hospital. Gen Conduct: Cleanly & Willing. Under Remarks: 9/9/45. Constable. Recommd. To the Secretary of State for a T. of Leave – v. Gazette 21 6/45. It is hereby notified to the under-mentioned Convicts, that bis Excellency bas received a Despatch from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State, conveying Her Majesty's approval of Tickets of-Leave being granted to them ;— Peter Brotherton, British Sovereign ; The Cornwall Chronicle, 7 Nov 1846. It is hereby notified to the undermentioned individuals, that it is the intention of his Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor to recommend them to the consideration of her Majesty the Queen for Conditional Pardons :-- Peter Brotherton, British Sovereign ; Timothy Callaghan, British Sovereign ; Colonial Times, Hobart, 30 Nov 1847.

Dublin Garrison. The following sentences by general courts'-martial have been awarded the undermentioned men, and were promulgated on Saturday in the Royal Square, Royal Barracks, in presences of detachments from each regiment in the garrison, by Major White, Town and Brigade Major, viz..- Private William Brown, 6th Dragoons, desertion and making away with his necessaries, to be transported for seven years. Private George Fox, 14th Foot, desertion and making away with his necessaries, to be transported for fourteen years. Private Peter Brotherton, 38th Foot, desertion and making away with necessaries and 30 rounds of ball ammunition, to be transported for fourteen years. Private John Donovan, alias Greany, 69th Foot, desertion and making away with necessaries, also for re- enlisting in, and deserting from, the 74th regiment to be transported for seven years. Private Thomas Henegan, alias Hurley, 88th regiment, desertion from a detachment 14th Foot at Cork, when under orders to join service companies, and making away with necessaries; for re-enlisting into, and deserting from, the 88th regiment, and making away with his necesaries. to be transported for seven years, and marked with the letter D. Private John Long, 99th regiment, for having written a letter to the Lieutenant-General Commanding, containing false and calumnious accusations against Lieutenant- Colonel Sir J. Gosford Le Marchant, his commanding officer, so well as against another officer and non-commissioned officer of that corps, imputing unjust motives and undue severity to Lieutenant-Colonel Le Marchant, &c. &c, to be imprisoned, with hard labour, in Provost prison Dublin, for a period of fifteen months, and to forfeit all advantage as to additional pay and pension on discharge.
