Family connections for John (Broughton) are: BROUGHTON John (Broughton) was born about 1764. He was tried in London in 1789, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship SALAMANDER; he arrived on Norfolk Island in September 1791. He is recorded as Free by Servitude sentence expired labourer off stores on Norfolk Island in February 1805. On 15 5 1808 he moved to Derwent Tasmania as part of the first evacuation (for which volunteers apparantly had been called with appropriate compensation offerred & for which he may have tried to decline as some successful farmers were asked to stay) with Deborah (Davis) & perhaps 1child on ESTRAMINA, arriving on 5 6 1808. In 1809 he had a relationship with Deborah (Davis her third relationship) emancipist of Clarence Plains whom he later married on 7 3/5 1810 at St Davids CofE Hobart. He is recorded as off stores in Hobart Town on 2 10 1818. He is recorded in 1822 with his wife in Tasmania. John (Broughton) does not have an entry on this Website as yet-added by me. Deborah (Davis) was born about 1764/74. She was tried for theft of jewelery at Kent Assizes in 1788, sentenced to 7years (this Website suggests the sentence had been reduced) & arrived in NSW as a convict on 3 6 1790 after a voyage of 12months on Fleet ship LADY JULIANA-a ship with 228females who easily entertained the whole crew & also sailors at Teneriffe stopover; she was sent to Norfolk Island on 7 8 1790 & became domestic servant to Governor (King). She had a first relationship (1of3) with William Neate (Chapman) from November 1791. She is recorded in June 1794 as a servant of the Lieutenant Governor w/1child. She was assigned a 9acre land grant (plot no.113) at Cascade Creek Phillipburgh on east side of the island in 1801 by William Neate (Chapman). She had a second (2of3) relationship with John (Herbert) his second (2of3) relationship). She still owned 9.5acres when she moved to Derwent Van Diemens Land (Tasmania), with John (Broughton) & perhaps with a child, on 15 5 1808 as part of the first evacuation on ESTRAMINA, arriving on 5 6 1808. In 1809 she was living on 50acres at Clarence Plains with (her third relationship) John (Broughton). In 1821 the 9acre lease was cancelled. She is recorded in 1822 w/her husband in Tasmania. She died in 1829 age65 mother of 3known children in Tasmania.
