Inquest Record. https://stors.tas.gov.au/SC195-1-51-6232 See record for details. FATAL ACCIDENT.- At about four o'clock yesterday afternoon a fatal accident occurred at the gravel quarry, New Town, by which a man named Charles Brown, in the employment of the City Corporation lost his life. It appears that the unfortunate man was working in the quarry, when the embankment overhead gave way, and before he could clear himself several tons of stone and gravel fell upon him, burying him to a considerable depth. A number of men at once set to work to extricate him, but on clearing the gravel away it was found that he was lifeless. The body was at once conveyed to the Hospital in charge of the police, where it now awaits an inquest. The deceased was a steady man, and has for some years hold respectable employment in this city. He leaves a wife and five children to deplore his loss. The Mercury, Hobart. 26 Feb 1867.
