A possible case (fits timing and sentence) is this from Old Bailey online https://www.oldbaileyonline.org/record/t18300114-205 This Edward Brown is 16 years old but already has a record of a previous conviction. He has "no other way of getting a living" than taking unattended items (in this case taking a picture from a shop). There's mention of an earlier case , given how young Edward Brown is it cannot have been long before. This is a very similar theft (distraction and snatching) and though it's not committed alone the Edward Brown involved was the same age and quickly at liberty again in London.
