The Convict Indentures state that Ellen Brown was 40 years old. She could read; religion Protestant; status widow with 3 sons and 3 daughters and a native of County Antrim. she was a country servant. Ellen was convicted of stealing a shawl at Antrim on 30 June 1837 and sentenced to 7 years. She had one prior conviction and served 6 months. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 2 3/4 inches; complexion ruddy and freckled; hair brown mixed with grey and eyes hazel. Transport number 99. Prisoner number 98-38. Received her Certificate of Freedom in 6(number 46/474).
