Built 1836 in Calcutta. Wood barque of 421 Tons. Master Edward Smith. Sailed from England 1848 with 190 men from Pentonville prison under the care of surgeon Dr Robert Stevenson, . Twenty seven prisoners deemed to fall into "second class" were disembarked in Hobart and granted tickets of leave on landing and the remainder were disembarked at Geelong with conditional pardons. Sailed from Woolwich on 6 October 1851 under surgeon W. McCrae with 196 female convicts, landing on 26 January 1852.

Children: John William Robert all admitted to St. John's Orphanage, New Town, Hobart. Father stated as Thomas Bennett; Mother - Catherine Bryceland. 1864: Mother at Cascades Female Factory. Father a sailor, at sea (a free man). Child: Margaret Turley (although indexed as Furley) died at the Cascades Female Factory, 10 June 1852. Cause - diarrhoea. Aged 1 yr. Female convict's child.

Catherine Bryceland was convicted at Glasgow on 23 Dec 1850 for theft - stealing clothes. Previous offence. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Anna Maria' arriving 26 Jan 1852. Aged 20yrs; housemaid; single but with 1 child (Margaret Turley aged 8 mths, on board with her); 5'1"; Roman Catholic. Native place - Glasgow, Scotland. Father of her child stated: Peter Turley & had lived 10 months with him. Parents: John & Catherine Brother: John Sister: Betsey Assigned to work service in the Colony. Several notes of misconduct on her record. 4 April 1853: Hobart S.C. - charged with assault and stealing. 15 yr sentence, 3 of which on Probation. 16 Mar 1855: Ticket of Leave granted. 10 May 1856: Child - William John BRYCELAND born. Hobart. (Father not named) (ref. 33/1/6 no. 1359) 5 Aug 1856: Application for permission to marry - Henry Crowther. 18 Sept 1860: Ticket of Leave revoked. 15 Aug 1866: Application for permission to marry William Carnes. 10 Dec 1866: Marriage to William Carnes at Hobart.
