Old Bailey: **This is a shortened version** ANN COCKING, JOHN COCKING, BENJAMIN BUGGEY, Violent Theft > robbery, 20th August 1838. Reference Number: t18380820-1886 Offence: Violent Theft > robbery Verdict: Guilty > no_subcategory; Guilty > no_subcategory; Guilty > no_subcategory Punishment: Transportation ANN COCKING, JOHN COCKING , and BENJAMIN BUGGEY , were indicted for a robbery on Charles Pearson, on the 19th of August, putting him in fear, and taking from his person and against his will, 1 hat, value 9s.; 1 pair of gloves, value 1s.; 2 half-crowns and 7d.; his goods and monies; and immediately before and at the time of the said robbery striking and beating him. ANN COCKING— GUILTY . Aged 20. JOHN COCKING*— GUILTY . Aged 34. BUGGEY— GUILTY . Aged 17. John Cocking was also on board the Marquis of Hastings – Ann Cocking was transported to NSW per ‘Planter’ 1838. Benjamin Buggey was 19 years old on arrival in VDL. He was single, 5’5” tall, very liht hair, blue eyes, enlarged knuckle and scar right 2nd ring finger. 26/5/1846: TOL Sept. 1849: Recommended for a CP Feb. 1849 CP 12/4/1851: Listed as a Yeoman when involved in an Insolvency at Launceston. No marriage or children found and no mention of him after C1850.
