William Bunting was listed as 20 years old on arrival. Place of Birth: Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Father: Henry Bunting. Mother: Anne. Brother: Jabez Sister: Elizabeth. Transported for 'housebreaking and stealing a silver tin pot spoons silk gown, 3 or 4 pairs of shoes'. William was 5'3ΒΌ" tall, fresh complexion, black hair, brown eyes, W. star, BA, star 19 - 1840 inside left arm, scar on left thumb and middle finger. 15/8/1848: TOL 28/6/1852: Free Certificate. Again Transported. Colonial Times, 29/07/1851; William Bunting, charged with stealing sixty sheep, the property of George Bryant. Mr. Brewer defended the prisoner, and addressed the jury on his behalf. Verdict, guilty. .... William Bunting, to be transported for life. 14/11/1848: Married Mary Ann Meredith (Elizabeth and Henry 1847). 4 children born in Tas. 5 children born in Ballarat, Vic. 28/7/1868: William Bunting died in Ballarat and was buried in the Ballarat Old Cemetery.
