On the same day was committed to the castle, (by F. C. Mortlock, Esq.) William Burling, charged with having, on Christmas Day last, feloniously broken into the dwelling-house of Mr. John Chambers, of Kirtling Cambridge Chronicle, 3 Jan 1817. Cambridgeshire Lent Assizes. William Burling (aged ?,) was indicted for feloniously breaking and entering the dwelling-house of John Chambers, of Kirtling, on Christmas-day last, no person being therein, and stealing therefrom a Newmarket bank-note of Hammond’s Bank, value 25 guineas, sundry other notes of the Newmarket and Cambridge Banks, and of the Bank of England, in the amount of £80, and upwards, a five and three-penny piece in gold a silver watch one guinea in gold, and the property of the said John Chambers. a farmer at Kirtling. …. His Lordship has reprieved Henry Bridgewater, Charles Teversham, William Frost, Thomas Howlett, James Howlett, and William Burling; John Scare and John Freeman are left for execution on Saturday the 5th of April next.
