The Convict Indentures state that Kearns Burns was 19 years old. He could read; religion Catholic; status single and a native of Tipperary. He was a farm boy. He was convicted of stealing clocks on 27 March 1828 in Tipperary and sentenced to 7 years. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes - Height 5 feet 6 1/2 inches; complexion sallow: hair brown and eyes grey. Transport number 23. Assigned to Mr B. C. Leathridge (?), Parramatta. Received his Certificate of Freedom from Colonial Secretary's Office, Sydney on 21 July 1835. Reference The Sydney Gazette and NSW Advertiser dated Saturday 25 July 1835. First name appears to be spelt either as Kearns or Kearne.
