20 Feb 1830 brothers John & Benjamin Burrell were reported absconded from the farm of Lt John Reid, Rosebrook, Hunter's River.
On 14 Oct 1825 shortly after their arrival in the colony bothers John & Benjamin Burrell were assigned as farm hands to Lt John Reid, Rosebrook, Hunter's River.
Evening Mail London, England 9 Aug 1824: CHELMSFORD. John Burrell and Benjamin Burrell were indicted for a burglary and robbery in the dwelling-house of Jane Clapton, at Dunmew, on the night of 16th of May.....They took away a £5 bank-note and 30 sovereigns. John Burrell was the brother of Benjamin and was also onboard. Benjamin Burrell was listed as 20 years old on arrival. Native Place: Essex. Benjamin was 5'4" tall, fresh freckled complexion, brown hair, hazel gre;y eyes, very well. 30/4/1830: John and Benjamin were both executed for Burglary - Hunter River District.

Upon the evidence of an approver, Christopher Harpur, the Jury having retired for about three quarters of an hour, found the prisoners, Benjamin Burrell, John Burrell, Thomas Sharpe, and Joseph Savage, guilty of the capital felony, and acquitted John Davis and Felix Kearney. They also found Joseph Gassett guilty, as an accessary after the fact, and Mary Gassett guilty of receiving, acquitting Thomas Carroll. His Honour passed sentence of death upon B. Burrell, J. Burrell, Thomas Sharpe, and Joseph Savage, and ordered them for execution on such day as His Excellency shall appoint.
