Joseph BURRELL, aged 9 years, was convicted at the Old Bailey Central Court, London 16 Feb 1814- together with other youths Moses Solomons and John Morris - for break, enter and steal.  They entered the dwelling house of Richard Atkinson, a bootmaker, and stole a pair of shoes/boots. They were all found guilty and given the Death sentence. The judge recommended mercy due to their young ages. They were all transported to Australia per the ship ‘Maruis of Wellington’ arriving 1815 in New South Wales.
