Daniel Burrows was transported on the Recovery, departing 30th Jul 1819 and arriving 18th Dec 1819 with 189 passengers.

Built 1799 Batavia, 493 tons. 1823 voyage. Also arrived the same morning, (i.e. Thursday last) from Ireland, having sailed from the Cove of Cork on the 5th April, the ship Recovery, Captain Fotherley, with 180 male convicts, in tolerable health : no deaths on the passage. Surgeon Superintendent, Dr. Cunningham, R. N. The guard comprises a detachment of the 1st, or Royals, commanded by Captain Gill, who is accompanied by his Lady. Three free passengers come out by this conveyance, at the expence of the Crown. Sydney Gazette, Thurs 7 Aug 1823. 1835 voyage. Surgeon's general remarks. On 5th October 1835, the Guard embarked at Deptford, consisting of 1 staff, 1 subaltern, 2 sergeants, 1 drummer, 26 rank and file of the 28th Regiment, accompanied by 8 women and 4 children. On the 19th at Spithead we received on board 160 male convicts from the Leviathan and 120 from the York Hulk and in the 30th got under weigh, previous to which, the convicts were discharged to the hulks in consequence of their being a great nuisance on board. Family connections for Daniel (Burrows) are: BURROWS Daniel (Burrows) was born about 1774. He arrived in NSW as a convict on 18 12 1819 after a voyage of 4.5months on RECOVERY. He was a farmer at Campbelltown when he married Ann (???/Daniel/s her third marriage) on 23 2 1824 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. He is recorded in 1828 with Ticket of Leave labourer for Samuel (Hiet) at Kent St Sydney. [Some details taken from this Website] Ann (???/Daniel/s) was born about 1767 or 1774 married firstly (1of3) Thomas (Daniels). She was tried at Newcastle upon Tyne Quarter Sessions Northumberlandshire, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 1 1814 after a voyage of 5months on WANSTEAD. She is recorded in 1814 as off stores with Ticket of Leave. She married secondly (2of3) William (Davis his second marriage) on 24 7 1819 at St Lukes CofE Liverpool. She was recorded in 1822 living with her husband W (Davis) at Liverpool. She died on 7 12 1827 age60 or about53 at General Hospital Sydney & was buried, as (Burrows nee Daniels) emancipist, at St James CofE Sydney. Sainty & Johnson; 1828 Census of New South Wales: Page 73... [Ref B3427] Burrows, Daniel, 54, TL, Recovery, 1819, 14 years, Labourer for Samuel Hiet, Kent Street Sydney. ## Daniel was a widower, since Ann had died in December 1827.

In 1824 Daniel married Ann Davis , nèe Daniel (Convict, Wanstead, 1814). Ann was described as a widow, aged 45 years. She had previously been married to William Davis (Convict, Scarborough, 1790). There are no children traced as yet to either union.
