Per "Larkins", 1817 1822 Application for ticket of leave (Reel 6026; 4/1715 pp.33-4) Application for ticket of leave: The Humble Petition of John Birt sheweth That your Excellency’s Petitioner was tried in Aylesbury Buckinghamshire March 1816, Sentenced transportation for Life and arrive in the ship Larkin November 1817, Captain Wilkinson. That Petitioner has been in the employ of Benjamin Jamison, Settler near the town of Parramatta for five months was coming from the Nepean on his Master’s business and was attacked by three bush rangers about 12 o’clock at night and wounded near the heart has been the last five weeks in Parramatta Govt. Hospital and is now discharged therefrom. Petitioner humbly implore of your Excellency the indulgence of a Ticket of Leave and Petitioner will as in duty bound for ever pray, Respectfully submitted for his Excellency’s consideration, ... Parramatta 1822. May it please Your Excellency to grant this favour as he is an honest, sober and industrious man and has formerly met with misfortune in my service, Benjamin Jamison.




Aylesbury.— At the Buckinghamshire Assizes the calendar comprised 19 prisoners, who were sentenced as _ under: - R. Lawrence, for sheep stealing, at Grandborough; James Taylor, for a like offence, at Fingest; John Burt, for like offence, at Wavenden; Jas. Baker, for a burglary, at Stoke Poges—Guilty, Death, reprieved. ... Oxford University and City Herald, 22 March 1817.
