Convict Notes

28/10/1819 Worcester Journal Worcestershire, England: At the Taunton Sessions sentence of seven years’ transportation was passed Edw. Butler and John Perry, for stealing two gold seals, by breaking a pane from the shop window of Mr. Moor, of Bath. [These lads, neither of them above 17 years of age, behaved with the greatest effrontery, smiling during the whole trial. Butler was the son of a once eminent clother in Frome, who became a bankrupt through the failure of a great London hourse, which reverse in his circumstances had such an effect on the poor man, that he died broken hearted within a twelvemonth.] John Perry was also onboard the Neptune.
