Margaret's husband mentioned in her indent, Michael Renihan (Samuel Boddington 1845-6), married Jane Hyland (Lord Auckland 3 1845-6) in 1854 and the marriage was revoked one day later, likely as a result of Margaret and Michael's earlier marriage.

Margaret (k/a Peggy)BUTLER was tried and convicted, along with 4 others, at Tipperary of Arson (burning a house). 15 yr Transportation sentence. She departed on the 'Earl Grey' voyage 4 from Kingston 17/12/1849, arriving van Diemens Land, Hobart 9/5/1850. Mother - Mary Butler (also tried Arson and arrived per 'Duke of Cornwall' - to follow her daughter). Sisters - Jane & Kitty. Margaret was a married woman. Husband - Michael Renihan, Ireland (transported on the 'Samuel Boddington' 1846. Roman Catholic; country servant; 5'; fresh complexion, freckled; light hazel eyes; red hair. Native Place: Co. Kilkenny, Ireland. 02/09/1851: Absent without leave - 3 days cells, Cascade Female Factory, Hobart. 17/01/1851: Brickfields Hiring Depot. 19/01/1852: assigned to A.
