Return of Persons convicted, week ending 7 Oct 1871. William Butler, per St Vincent, F.S., for larceny, sentence-2 months, a labourer, native place Yorkshire, 58 yrs old, 5 feet 7 inches high. Tasmania Police Gazette, 13th Oct 1871, p165. Prisoner discharged from H M Gaols, Hobart & Launceston, week ending 6 Dec 1871 and 2 Dec 1871. William Butler, per St Vincent, F.S., tried at Port Cygnet, on 3 Oct 1871, for Larceny, received 2 months, native place is Yorkshire, age 58 yrs, 5 feet 6 1/2 inches high, greyish hair, blue dot near left wrist. Tasmania Police Gazette, 8th Dec 1871, p198.
