On Thursday arrived from Calcutta, via Derwent, the ship Mary, Captain Ormon, with a various cargo. -Passengers from Calcutta, Captain Faithfull and Lieutenant Hamilton:-The Mary sailed from Calcutta the 23d of February, and left the Pilot the 1st of March. ADM 101/51/4 . Medical and surgical journal of the male convict ship Mary between 8 December 1829 and ? [no date recorded] by Robert Espie, Surgeon and Superintendent. during which time the said ship was employed on a passage from England to Van Diemen's Land. Folio 3: William Butterworth, aged 28, Convict; disease or hurt, phlegmonous inflammata, produced by a burn. Put on sick list, 10 January, at sea. Discharged 28 January.

William was married - Wife Sarah Butterworth with her father at Peniston. 1830-1833 Musters: Assigned to Mr. Downward. 14/1/1834: Downward/Neglect of duty, Reprimanded. 4/3/1834: Downward/Insolence to his Master and wilfully destroying his property - 25 lashes. 1835 Muster: Absconded 1834. 27/9/1842: CP 5/11/1844: Recommended to the Queen for a Free Pardon. 25/2/1846: Pardon approved. 7/5/1850: William Butterworth died of Consumption (TB). at Hobart.
