The Convict Indentures state that Esther Byrne was 29 years old. She could neither read or write; religion Roman Catholic; status single with 1 daughter and a native of Queen's County. she was a nursery maid. Esther was convicted of stealing potatoes at Queen's County on 23 June 1837 and sentenced to 7 years. She had one prior conviction and served 14 days. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 2 inches; complexion ruddy freckled and a slightly pock pitted; hair dark brown and eyes hazel. Transport number 64. Prisoner number 64-38. Received her Certificate of Freedom in 1844 (number 44/1428).
