Francis Byrne aged 23 was tried in 1814 at Dublin City and sentenced to 7 years transportation. He was described as a miller, native place Wicklow. He was transported aboard the ship ‘Guildford’.

In the colony, Francis married Sarah Rebecca Hibbs, St Matthews, Windsor, October 23rd 1820.
Sarah was the daughter of Peter Hibbs (First Fleet Seaman, Sirius, 1788) and Mary Ann Pardoe (Second Fleet Convict, Lady Juliana, 1790).
Francis and Sarah had 12 children between 1821 and 1843.
