John Byrne was transported on the Lonach, departing 16th May 1825 and arriving 4th Sep 1825 with 144 passengers.
On Sunday last arrived from Ireland, with 143 male prisoners, the ship Lonnorch, Captain W. H. Driscoll. She sailed from Cork the 16th of May, and lost one prisoner on the passage. The guard consists of Lieutenant Donelan, 57th Regt, with a detachment of the same corps. Dr. Osborne, R. N. is the Surgeon Superintendent. Passengers, Mr. Drew and Mr. Stubbs. Irish Convict Database by Peter Mayberry. John Byrne, alias Burn, age on arrival, 19, per Lonach (1825), Tried at Wicklow, 7 years, Felony wearing apparel. DOB 1806. ---------------------------------------------------- Convict index, 1791-1873. John Byrne, Lonach, 1825, Certificate of Freedom, 14 Jun 1831. 31/0598. ABSCONDING. WHEREAS JOHN BYRNE, per Ship Lonach, free by servitude, the hired Servant of the Rev. HENRY FULTON, of Castlereagh, has ABSCONDED from his service considerably in debt; these are to warn and require all Constables and others to apprehend the said BYRNE, that he may be dealt with according to Law. — He is a native of Waterford, by trade a tobacco Spinner, 32 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark sallow complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, lost a front tooth in the upper jaw, a scar on the top of his forehead, a small anchor on his left, and a cross on the right arm; has left his certificate of freedom behind him, and supposed to have proceeded to the Hawkesbury.
