Almorah 2. Yesterday arrived from Ireland,- the ship Almorah; Captain Winter. She sailed from the Cove of Cork the 22d of August last, and brings 160 male prisoners, all in good health. Surgeon Superintendent, Dr. Alexander, R. N. The guard consists of a party of 30 men belonging to the 1st Regiment of Foot (Royals), under orders of Ensign Bruce. Sydney Gazette, 23 Dec 1820. Almorah 3. On Friday last, arrrived from Ireland, with 108 female prisoners, the ship Almorah, Captain Boyd. She sailed from Cork the 6th of April; reached no where: and, independent of the female prisoners, brings 15 free women, and 50 children. One prisoner, and one child, died on the passage. Dr. Price, R. N. is the Surgeon Superintendent. Sydney Gazette, 26 Aug 1824.

Irish Convict Database by Peter Mayberry Margaret Byrne, alias Boyle, age 23, per Almorah (3) 1824, Tried at Dublin City, 1823, 7 years, Native of Monaghan, DOB. 1801, Single, Sews knitter washer. -------------------------------------------------- Margaret Boyle caused trouble on the journey on Almorah. ADM 101/2/2 1824 Medical and surgical journal of the Almorah convict ship, for 17 March to 26 August 1824 by Morgan Price, Surgeon and Superintendent, during which time the said ship conveyed female convicts from Cork to Port Jackson. (Described at item level). Folio 20: 13 June 1824, All prisoners very quiet except [Mary] Rian and Margaret Boyle who are [contriving] and inventing some plans. Folio 21: 17 June 1824, The conduct of [Mary] Rian and Margaret Boyle has been very bad. Folio 22: 22 June 1824, All well behaved with the exception of Margaret 'Boil' [Margaret Boyle] and [Mary] Rian who continually endeavour to implicate others and propagate stories while keeping themselves from detection. -------------------------------------------------- NSW 1828 Census at Parramatta Government Factory Margt.
