Martin Byrne was 28 years old and was transported for "Robbery of a dwelling house". Martin was single and his native place was Carlow County. 1842 TOL 23/12/1846: TOL Passport, Windsor Bench 30/7/1847: CP 1842: Married Sarah Nightingale, born Sydney 1825-died Queanbeyan 1869. They had 12 children. 1839: Martin arrived at Gundaroo, he worked on his Uncle James Hughes(his mother's brother) property "Mugwill". 1850: Built the Byrne's Hotel in Queanbeyan, and held the licence until 1860, then went to live at his station "Woden". 1869: Returned to Queanbeyan after his wife's death, built and operated the Steam Flour Mill in 1883, and was also heavily involved in getting a hospital built in Queanbeyan. 21/3/l892: Died in the Mill House, Queanbeyan and is buried in the Riverside Cemetery Queanbeyan.
