Jonas Cable, indicted on the oath of Eli Rudduck, assistant overseer of the poor of North Lopham, with having entered a shed for keeping firing for the poor, with intent to steal the same, Acquitted. Norwich Mercury, 29 March 1828. Henry Townsend, for stealing from a dwelling-house two sovereigns and County Sessions. ]— Jonas Cable, for stealing two deal boards of Scotch fir and part of an hempen sack from Mr. Womack, of North Lopham; Bury and Norwich Post, 13 Jan 1836. Eleven Convicts  have been removed to Portsmouth, this week, from the Castle for transportation :— ... Jonas Cable, ... for seven years. Norfolk Chronicle, 13 Feb 1836. Tasmanian Conduct Record : https://libraries.tas.gov.au/Digital/CON31-1-7/CON31-1-7P404 No 2135. Jonas Cable. Transported for stealing various articles. Gaol report, very bad, convicted three times before. Hulk report Good. Married, Stated this offence- Stealing boards, pros. Mr Womack at North Laughton (North Lopham) once for stealing straw, 6 month. Married 5 children, wife Henrietta at N.P., North Laughton. Surgeon’s report, quiet. T.L. 12 .1.1841.

Jonas gained his ticket of leave in 1841 and returned to North Lopham, Norfolk, dying there 27 Jan 1881. He is recorded in the 1861 census in North Lopham.
