1839: CAETANE: listed as having a black complexion, oval head, black woolly hair, small visage, low forehead, black eyebrows, black eyes, flat nose, large mouth and large chin; marks on his breast in small cuts, also parallel cuts on the flesh of his face from the forehead down the nose (see Tasmania, Australia, Convict Court and Selected Records, 1800-1899; Register; Description lists of convicts convicted locally or arriving on non-convict ships, 1832-1842).

1839, 19 October: CAETANE is on a list of prisoners sentenced for transportation per “Water Witch” from Port Louis, Mauritius, to Van Diemen’s Land by the Criminal Court of the Colony of Mauritius. He is described as: single, aged 45, a fisherman; tried for arson at the Assizes on 28 September, 1839, and sentenced to 7 years; brown complexion, brown eyes and short curly hair; 5'0"; native place Mozambique; cannot read or write (see New South Wales, Australia Convict Ship Muster Rolls and Related Records, 1790-1849).
