New South Wales, Australia, Certificates of Freedom, 1826 5' 4 1/4" dark ruddy complexion little pockpitted complexion dark brown hair and dark grey eyes. was sent to Port Macquarie April 1825 for 2 years for robbery The Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser (NSW : 1803 - 1842) View title info Thu 10 Feb 1825 Page 4 TO THE EDITOR OF THE SYDNEY GAZETTE. THE undermentioned Prisoners having absented themselves from their respective Employments, and some of them at large with false Certificates, all Constables and others are hereby required to use their utmost Exertions in ordering them in safe Custody:— 1. Michael Cain, Speke, 18, Tuam 5 feet 2 and a half, hazel eyes, brown hair, dark comp, Salmon's Clearing Party. Michael Cain was charged with being an absentee ; he confessed that having been sent from Bathurst on his master's business, he had travelled 20 miles out of his way to see a friend. How very snugly stolen articles can be put aside by such little manoeuvering as this ; and after all perhaps the fellow spoke falsely.—Sentence, 25 lashes, for being apprehended in these districts without a pass, and then to be sent under escort to his station.
