Convict Notes
Lynn Sessions Oct. 22. Richard Fox and Caleb Sadler, for burglary in breaking into the shop of Thomas Bunting, butcher, and stealing large quantity of meat. The prisoners, whose ages respectively did not exceed 20 and 16 years, entered the shop of the prosecutor, by forcing the window shutter on the evenings the and 20th of September.—Guilty. Sentence of death recorded. Cambridge Chronicle, 2 Nov 1827.
Caleb was sentenced along with an accomplice Richard Fox, both sentenced to Death but changed to 14 years in the Colonies...Australia.. Caleb was assigned to John Blaxland ,brother of Greg who crossed the Blue Mountains. Caleb worked on Blaxlands Cattle Farm at Newington, now named Silverwateron the Parramatta Riiver Sydney. He died at Blaxlands other farm at Fordwich,near Wollombi ,near Broke.There is a monument there with his and other pioneers names inscribed erected in 1988 Bi Centennery Celebrations.
