The 'Margaret' was the last convict ship to transport female prisoners to New South Wales. Another voyage to Van Diemen's Land in 1843. The Convict Indentures state that Anastasia Callaghan was 20 years old. She could not read or write; religion Roman Catholic; status single and a native of county Wicklow. She was a kitchen maid. Anastasia was convicted of stealing money at Wicklow on 3 June 1838 and sentenced to 7 years. She had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 3 inches; complexion ruddy freckled and pock pitted; hair brown and eyes light grey. Transport number 123. Prisoner number 121-39.
