Suffolk summer Assizes Thomas Williams, aged 19, and Austin Callaghan, aged 19, were indicted for passing bad money, after previous convictions. Mr. Palmer appeared for the prosecution. The case was very clearly proved, and the prisoners being convicted, were severally sentenced to ten years’ penal servitude. Bury Free Press, 31 July 1858. Austin Callaghan was sent to Bermuda as a convict. Austin Callaghan, c.p. drunk, and refusing to give his name and address to the Police, and resisting the Police when taken into custody on Saturday night last in Perth; 3 months' imprisonment.
