The Convict Indentures state that Matthew Callaghan was 22 years old. He could neither read or write; religion Catholic; status single and a native of Limerick. His trade was a ploughman. He was convicted of stealing geese at Limerick on 14 April 1828. He was sentence to 7 years and had no prior convictions. Physical attributes - Height 5 feet 5 1/2 inches; dark ruddy; hair black and eyes dark hazel. Transport number 175. Assigned to Mr James Chisholm, Hunter's River.
