On Wednesday last, James Calvert, Headingley, was committed to York Castle, by the Magistrates of this borough, on a charge of stealing horse, and saddle, belonging to Mr. Goff, Headingley; Leeds Intelligencer, 1 Nov 1819. James Calvert for stealing a gelding. Guilty. Death. Sheffield Independent, 18 March 1820. -------------------------------------------------------------- On Monday the following convicts passed through Doncaster from York castle, in order be delivered on board the Hulks lying up the river at Portsmouth, viz. William Garrett, Benjamin Taylor, James Gray, Edward Johnson, Ellis, William Wood, John Fieldhouse, and Joseph Roberts, to be severally transported for life. Abraham Dougill, Michael Reilly, John Harrison, Thomas Brown, Charles Ratcliffe, John Smith, and James Calvert, for 14 years each, and Joseph Shaw, for 7 years.
