DUNDALK ASSIZES. There never has appeared little on the Calendar of this County. There were very few records for trial, and even those were not tried, having been delivered too late to the Sheriff. The following were the principal convictions, and the trials contained very little interesting matter. Peter Campbell, for house robbery and burglary; to be transported for 7 years. Peter Campbell, for horse stealing; sentence of death passed upon him, but recommended to mercy to be transported for life. ... Belfast Commercial Chronicle, 15 July 1826. Note: there were 2 men named Peter Campbell tried and convicted at these assizes. This man is Peter Campbell Jun. - was the other man his father?
