At the Cork Assizes, Michael Cannavan was indicted for stealing a bridle and saddle, the property of the Rev. Mr. O’Grady, a Roman Catholic Clergyman. Mr. O’Grady deposed to his haring lost the bridle and saddle, and that the friends of the prisoner, on hearing the circumstance, took him into custody and brought him before Mr. O'Grady. Wtness got the saddle, but never got the bridle. Maurice Scanlan deposed, that he bought the saddle from the prisoner for half a guinea, and that he again sold it a countryman for 16s., but on hearing that Mr. O'Grady lost a saddle, he procured it from the man, and paid the money, after which he returned it to the owner. The prisoner said in his defence, that he found it the street four o’clock in the morning.—Guilty.—To be transported for seven years. Dublin Morning Register, 26 March 1825. Michael Cannon was indicted for stealing a bridle and sadddle, the property of the Mr. W. J. O’Grady. The saddle and bridle had been taken out of Mr. O'Grady's stable, and were sold by the prisoner to a man named Scanlan, who, on hearing they were stolen, returned them, and the prisoner who appeared to be old and incorrigible offender, was given up by his friends,— Guilty —To be transported for seven years. Southern Reporter, 24 March 1825. On Saturday, the following sixteen men convicted at the late Assizes, and sentenced to seven year's transportation, were delivered on board the Convict Hulk, Surprize, Cove, under an order received by the Sheriffs of this city, Messrs.
