** This convict was first listed on the 'Marquis of Huntley' as John LANNING - obviously a typo error - have listed both names for John and have transposed Dan Carr's contribution to the correct page** - Moderator. Dan Carr (0) at 8:08am, 8th June 2018 wrote of John Canning: John Birkitt Canning, aged 36, a labourer, of Glanford, Brigg, Lincolnshire. John was convicted with George Luddington for stealing a bay mare worth 15 pound and a bluff bridle worth 5 shillings, the property of William V. Nicholson, chemist, and a gelding worth 15 pound and a bluff bridle worth 1 shilling, property of Sarah Walkden, victualler. Place of crime Glanford, Brigg. Trial Date 05/03/1825, sentenced to death, commuted to life. Sent to NSW on ship Marquis of Huntley, transportation date 1826.
