Family connections for Isaac (Cannon) are: CANNON Isaac (Cannon) was born in 1803 at Manchester & became a groom. He was tried for breaking entering & intending to steal from George (Cathrow), on 7 1 1824, at Old Bailey on 14 1 1824, sentenced to Life, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery Newgate Prison & hulk YORK at Portsmouth from 5 5 1824 & arrived in NSW as a convict on 29 4 1825 after a voyage of 3.5months on ASIA & sent to Windsor Government Stores; he was 5'3.5" pock pitted sandy hair grey eyes. On 1 7 1828 he was found guilty of theft at Windsor, sentenced to 3years which he served at Moreton Bay, returning to Sydney in 1832. In June 1832 he is recorded as employed by Richard (Driver) of Sydney as a groom. On 2 11 1835 as a carter he firstly (1of3) married Mary Ann (Wedlock/lake) with permission at St Phillips CofE Sydney. He was issued his Ticket of Leave 42/1638 in 1842 for Parramatta & his Conditional Pardon was recommended in 1847. He married secondly (2of3) Ellen (Ham/mer) her second marriage) in 1868 at Parramatta. He is recorded as landlord of the Coach & Harness Hotel. [Some details taken from this Website] Ellen (Ham/mer) daughter of John (Armer) a brickmaker was born on 8 11 1811. She was tried for stealing money at Salford Lancaster Quarter Sessions on 20 7 1829 (her third conviction), sentenced to 14years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 29 6 1830 after a voyage of 4months on ROSLIN CASTLE; she was 5'1" ruddy complexion brown hair grey eyes with a small scar on her right cheek. She married firstly with permission John (Turner his second (2of3) marriage) on 11 3 1831or3 & produced 3children. In about 1832 she was assigned to Rev J (Vincent). She was issued a Ticket of Leave on 2 10 1837 which was cancelled on 2 6 1838. She was issued another Ticket of Leave on 17 12 1843 & on 29 12 1843 was sent to the Female Factory; her Ticket of Leave was cancelled on 7 6 1843sic. She was issued her Certificate of Freedom 44/170 on 7 2 1844. She died 20 12 1871 age60 at Phillip St Parramatta (although John (Turner)s entry on this Website gives 1840 age about29-I wonder if I am considering 2different Ellen (Ham/mer)s here, as some other information has slight differences also) of chronic bronchitis & long disease of kidney & liver & was buried at st Johns CofE Parramatta. Isaac Cannon, a groom, was born in Buckinghamshire about 1805, according to convict records. On 14 January 1824, at the Old Bailey in London, 19 year old "ISAAC CANNON was indicted for burglariously breaking and entering the dwelling-house of George Cathrow , about the hour of seven in the night of the 7th of January , at St. Mary-le-bone , with intent the goods and chattels in the said dwelling-house then being, feloniously and burglariously to steal." He was kept at Newgate prison then received on the York hulk at Portsmouth on 5 May 1824. He was transported on the Asia (5), and arrived 29 April 1825, at Sydney. He was described in the convict indent for this ship as 5ft 3½in, very much pock-pitted, with sandy hair and grey eyes. After arrival he was sent to Windsor where he was employed at the Government Stores. On 1 July 1828 Isaac Cannon was sentenced to 3 years at Moreton Bay for theft at Windsor. In the 1828 census he was at Moreton Bay, and arrived back in Sydney in 1832. In June 1832 he was employed by Richard Driver as a groom in Sydney. In 1835 he applied for permission to marry Mary Ann Wedlock (Wedlake). Mary Ann was 20, and had arrived free on the ship Layton. Marriage 1: to Mary Anne Wedlock (1817–1861) on 2 November 1835 at St Phillips church, Sydney. Isaac was described as a carter in the marriage registration. Their daughter Ann was born 19 August 1837, and baptised 17 December 1837 at St Phillips Sydney. In 1842 Isaac obtained a Ticket of Leave (42/1638) which allowed him to remain in the District of Parramatta. He was recommended for a Conditional Pardon in 1847. Marriage 2: in 1868 to Ellen Turner (nee Hamer) (1811–1871) at Parramatta, New South Wales. Marriage 3: to Anabella (Isabella) Cawood nee MacFarlane(?) (1825–1895) on 14 Nov 1873 at Parramatta. In his will (written 20 August 1891) he mentions his wife Isabella, daughter Ann Proctor, and grandsons Isaac Richard Cannon and Elijah John Murray. Death: 23 November 1892 at 60 Phillip Street, Parramatta. Burial at St John's Cemetery Parramatta. Obituary, Evening News November 24 1892: "Mr. Isaac Cannon, the oldest resident of Parramatta, died on Wednesday in his 89th year. Deceased was at one time landlord of the Coach and Horses Hotel, one of the most important coaching stages in the colonies."
