NAME: JAMES CANNON RYAN ALIAS: James Lampshire was 22 years old on arrival in VDL and was transported for ‘Stealing a black mare’. James was 5’4 ½” tall, dark complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, arms and face freckled, scar on right arm, single, illiterate. Father: Edward Mother: Ellen Sister: Margaret – all at Cornwall. 30/8/1853: TOL 6/9/1853: Recommended for a CP 4/12/1855: Permission to Marry Bridget Costello (free) – approved – no record found of the marriage. 27/1/1858: Supreme Court - James Ryan was acquitted upon an indictment preferred against him alleging that he had assaulted and robbed one Ellen Ephraim in Richmond.
