James Cantwell was 30 years old and transported for "Unlawful oaths". 16/2/1838: Assigned to the AA Company, Newcastle. Charged with using threatening language, 50 lashes. 27/9/1845: TOL Port Stephens 11/2/1846: TOL Passport, Port Stephens Bench 2/1/1847: TOL Passport, Dungog Bench. 5/10/1849: CP James could read but not write, was 6'0" tall, married with 6 children, 4 male and 2 female. brown complexion, little pockpitted, light sandy hair, dark grey eyes. His brother Michael was also transported per Parmelia 1834. James was married to Mary Cantwell nee Brennan. Mary and children all came to australia per Garland 1851. Mary died at Singleton on 26/10/1885. 25/3/1857: James died at Narrowgut near Morpeth, aged 60 from inflammation of the lungs. He is buried at East Maitland. He was a farmer at the time of his death.
