It is with deep regret that we have to report the death of an old and respected resident of Gobarralong, Mr. Nicholas Carberry, which took place at the residence of his son Hugh, Lagoon Creek, at noon on Thursday of this week. Mr. Carberry had been ailing for about 12 months, and came over to his son's place two months ago in hope that the change would benefit him. He was present at the races last week and appeared to be in the best of spirits. But on Wednesday he was taken seriously ill, and succumbed the following day. Deceased was 70 years of age, and was born at Appin, near Campbelltown. He came to Gobarralong with his four brothers over half a century ago, and has resided there ever since. He leaves four sons and two daughters to mourn his loss. The remains are to be brought to town tomorrow morning and will be conveyed to St. Columba's church, where Mass will be celebrated at 6 o'clock, after which they will be taken to Coolac for burial. Mr. John Carberry is the only one surviving of the brothers who were the pioneers of the Gobarralong district. Mr. M. T. Carberry of this town was a nephew of the deceased.
