William Carney was 18 years old on arrival - Native Place: Cork. William was transported for 'Stealing chains'. William was illiterate, Catholic, single, 5'7ΒΌ" tall, ruddy and freckled complexion, brown hair, dark hazel eyes, eyebrows meeting, lost part of a front upper tooth, scar back of left hand, small scar under right eye, brother Patrick Carney, out a prisoner 4 years. (On the Blackwell 1833). 15/10/1844: COF

William CARNEY was convicted at Cork City, Ireland in 1836 for stealing chains. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to New South Wales, Australia per the ship 'Heber' arriving 1837. Aged 18yrs; labourer. Native Place: Co Cork, Ireland. Brother: Patrick CARNEY transported to Australia abt 1833.
