Caroline departed Kingston Ireland on 05.04.1849arrived Hobart on 23.07.1849 Permission to marry granted on 21.01.1851 Grangegorman Prison records stated year of birth 1828
This Caroline Moore did not marry John Munro on 17.02.1851 at St Georges Church Hobart. John Munros wife was Irish and arrived on the Maria. She had been sent to Aust for seven years for bring the wrong cow home from the common. She was convicted at Dublin Ireland on 12.12.1848 She was born 1827 was initially arrested and put into Newgate Prison on 24.10.1848 then moved to Kilmainham Prison 30.10.1848 then to Grangegorman Prison 0n12.12.1848 same day as sentencing she left their on 6.01.1849 to go on the Maria for transportation to Tasmania where she went to the Womens Prison in Hobart. She had long golden red hair. I am her youngest great child being the granddaughter of her eldest son George also his only child from second marriage.His second marriage in 1905 first wife died of typhoid in 1903 and so did my grandmother and then George died of it also on 20.10.1923 and is burried at Church of England East Devonport but his name is not on the honor board only names appearing are my grandmother and my Uncle who survived 2 hours in 1911. I found out the church records for the early 1920's weren't kept due to the typhoid plague. But my late mother had told me her father was buried there as she was at the funeral before moving with one of her half sister to Hepburn Springs Victoria to run a guest house. Caroline died 24.05.1905 and was buried at Wilmott Cementary her only daughter Jane Williams lived in that area. She had been in hospital and they said it was insanity as cause of death.
Caroline Moore born Leicester 1817 married James Town she did not also marry John Munro. The Caroline Moore that married John Munro was another convict from Dublin who arrived on Maria 2 in 1849. The Death date for the Caroline Moore who married James Town listed as 1905 was in fact the death date for the Caroline Moore who married John Munro
Born Barwell, leicestershire. Convicted of theft of a waistcoat in Leire. Had a daughter, Selina, by one Benjamin Bailey, a rope maker, and she had to be left behind to be brought up by her Aunt. Caroline married James Town, who had left his wife behind in Oxfordshire.
Married John Munro in Hobart on 17/02/1851. Died on Latrobe Tasmania buried at Wilmot Cemetery.
