Owen CARR was convicted at Newcastle, Northumberland on 7 Jan 1846 for stealing canvas. One previous conviction. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Palmyra' arriving 26 Aug 1846. Aged 16yrs; single man; Roman Catholic; can read; labourer; 5'0 1/2"; fresh complexion; black hair; Hazel eyes. Native Place: Newcastle, England. Sisters: Ann, Catherine & Mary Van Diemen's Land: 1846: Sent to Point Puer (a youth correctional facility, near Port Arthur). 1849: Assigned at Cascades, south Hobart. 1849: Prison Barracks, Hobart. 5 Feb 1850: Ticket of Leave granted. 25 May 1852: Ticket of Leave revoked (misconduct) 7 Jan 1853: Free Certificate 15 Jan 1853: Departed VDL for Melbourne, Victoria per the ship 'Clarence', from Launceston.
