Note from Moderator: Have changed term back to 7 years, found no evidence that he was sentenced to 12 years**. 14/2/1849 Limerick and Clare Examiner Limerick, Republic of Ireland: At the Police-office, yesterday, Denis and Bridget Carroll, arrested by Constable Hirdy, were charged with breaking into a Chapel at Newport, and stealing candlesticks. 2 Bridget Carroll's listed on 'Founders and Survivors' website but not for stealing candlesticks. Denis was listed as 36 years old on arrival, he was 5'4 3/4" tall, fresh complexion, brown hair, red whiskers, blue eyes, ears stand out, illiterate, married to Bridget with 2 children, Bridget at native place. Brother: Michael Sister: Bridget - at native place - Tipperary. 31/1/1854: TOL 9/1/1855: CP 7/6/1859: free Certificate

Trial date: 27/03/1849 Crime; Felony in a chapel One of 288 prisoners embarked on Ship London at Kingstown (Dun Laoghaire), Co. Dublin on 13th and 16th December 1850 from Mountjoy Prison, Dublin. Ship sailed 20th Dec 1850 and was 89 days at sea reaching Hobart Town on 19th March 1851.
