N.B.  There are two Mary Carroll’s on this voyage of the ‘Blackfriar’.

Mary Carroll was convicted at Dublin for stealing money. 7yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) on the ‘Blackfriar’, arriving 1851.

Roman Catholic; single; can read; aged 17yrs; housemaid; ruddy complexion; lt brown hair; blue eyes; single; native place - Co. Kilkenny.

Assignments of service in the Colony. Several records of misconduct and hard labour. Time at Ross Female Factory.

Application for permission to marry George Golby 17/12/1857 (ref. 13/1857-37)Brighton district. George died Hobart 23/2/1891 aged 72yrs.

Certified Free 7/12/1857.
