Convict Notes
Catherine Carty was indicted for stealing a watch, value 30s, a seal and a key 5s, 4 souverigns, and 4 1/2 crowns the po-roperty of Nels Leder. He was a Swede and met her at 1.30am and went home with her, fell asleep and worke up to find his goods missing. She was 16 years old and found GUILTY and transported for life. 23/12/1827: Application to marry approved. Married Mathew Murray age 28 per 'Brampton'. 12/9/1828: Carty or Murray, Catherine, Grenada 2, Servant, London, 5' 9 1/2" tall, grey eyes, dark brown hair, fair complexion - from Mr. Liscombe, Bathurst. Died: 27/6/1828. Catherine Murray, Aged 25, District/parish: Bathurst.
After Catherine died Mathew Murray married Maria E Hecat per 'Lucy Davidson'on the 11/3/1831. She was 21 years old and had been transported for 14 years.(married under the name of Hacket). They had 3 children and live in the Bathurst area. Mathew Murray received his COF on 11/6/1829 and it was renewed 8/1/1847. Mathew died in 1880 - Liverpool.
