John Carty,  Errand Boy, age 11, Tried in Cork City Ireland for Shoplifting in April 1831, Sentence: 7 Years, Education: None; Religion: Roman Catholic; Native place Cork, 4ft 4¼in, fair complexion, light brown hair, grey eyes, "scald head".   In the 1837 muster he was John McCarthy age 18, Assigned to J.T. Hughes, Yass. He received his Certificate of freedom 28 July 1838: John Carty, labourer, year of birth 1821, 5ft 7in, "Hair thin crown from disease. Anchor inside lower right arm"
