Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

The convict indentures state that Anthony Casey was 50 years old. He could read and write; religion Roman Catholic; status married with no children and a native of County Clare. His occupation was grocer (there is no occupation code). Anthony was convicted of manslaughter on 24 October 1835 at Dublin City and sentenced to 7 year. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 5 inches; complexion sallow; hair dark brown mixed with grey and eyes hazel. Transport number 31. Prisoner number 36-1836. Received ticket of leave in 1840 (number 40/2375). Received Certificate of Freedom in 1843 (number 43/372).
