Place of origin: Tipperary 1846 - Trial; 3 July 1846. No; 19638 Aged; 33 years old 1856 - 26 June 1856. Offence; Feloniously wounding John Hewitt with intent to kill. Sentence; T be hanged Executed; 5 August 1856 at Oatlands 1856 - The Hobarton Mercury (Tas. : 1854 - 1857) Fri 8 Aug 1856 Page 2 Lacal Intelligence. Michael Casey, underwent the last sentence of the law, for murder. The officers in attendance were the Under Sheriff, Mr Crouch, Mr. James Maclanachan, one of the Visiting Magistrates, Mr G. Pain, the gaoler, and Mr. Quinlan, the Chief District Constable, the Turnkey, and four javelin men. The wretched culprit was attended by the Revd. Mr. Kehone, H.C.P., and appeared very penitent. We understand, that the unfortunate man, since his condemnation, had twice attempted to destroy himself, and on the last occasion, on Monday, by opening a vein in his arm.
