IN VDL: 26 August, 1849: William Casey, #21817, was listed as 24 years old when convicted for malicious assault with his younger brother James (who died on the voyage). He was single, a top sawyer, Roman Catholic and able to read and write. He was 5'7" tall, with a fresh, freckled complexion, sandy hair, red whiskers and grey eyes. His native place was County Cork. He had no previous convictions and came with a "good" conduct rating. William Casey was given a Ticket of Leave on arrival. This was revoked in late March 1853 for being absent from his master but restored again three weeks later after his absence was "accounted for"(https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON33-1-94$init=CON33-1-94P66). --0--
