The 'Kitty' merchant built ship at Sunderland in 1787. In 1790 she carried slaves from the Gold Coast to Jamaica. Then in 1792 she transported convicts and goods from England to New South Wales, Australia. Voyage to Australia: After leaving England in March 1792 she sprung a leak and had to return to Spithead for repairs, departing again in April. 8 of the 10 male prisoners escaped. Only 30 female convicts, 3 died during the voyage. Carried supplies of stores and provisions for the Colony.

Family connections for Mary (Cassidy) are: CASSIDY Mary (Cassidy) was born about 1770/3. She was convicted, as a native of Dublin, at Dublin City, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 18 11 1792 after a voyage of 10months on KITTY. She entered a first relationship with William (Crew) & produced 2children (perhaps married in 1796-she is noted as having married William (Crew) about 1796 at Sydney, but Profesor Craig James (Smee)s records do not record this.>>> [Mary (Cassidy) has 2entries on this Website from which some information is taken] William (Crew probably Williams) was born in 1771 at Bristol Somerset. He was tried as William (Williams alias Crew) for highway robbery at probably Old Bailey, sentenced to Life, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship ALBERMARLE/ADMIRAL BARRINGTON. He was issued his Conditional Pardon on 12 12 1794 & granted 3,000acres (as was his partner in crime cousin John (Williams alias Miller) on the flats at upper Port Jackson (Concord). He was Free by Servitude by 1798. He died on 26 12 1797 age 26 at Concord & was buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney/Devonshire St cemetery. He seems to have adopted his wifes children. He was Free by Servitude by 1800.
